Engr. Syed Sibte Ahmed Jafri (Late) was one of Pakistan’s top consulting engineers having vast experience in the field of Power Generation both covering Captive and IPP Projects; Self Generation and Co-Generation. He was the CEO and Founder of Jafri and Associates (Pvt.) Ltd. which is one of the finest consultancy firms in Pakistan.
Engr. Syed Sibte Ahmed Jafri (Late) was born in 1937 in Karachi. He completed B.E. in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from N.E.D. University of Karachi during 1959 with Honours and went to England for Post Graduate Training in the English Electric Company. He established Jafri & Associates in 1971 which later went on to become a Private Limited company.
The deceased was well known in the engineering fraternity especially for his technical prowess and in depth knowledge about power generation. He was one of the founders of the IEEEP Karachi Center; and one of the brains behind the “Multi-Topic International Symposium”. He had presented various papers at many forums and was also a frequent contributor for Engineering Post sharing very informative and innovative articles for the engineering community.
Engr. Syed Sibte Ahmed Jafri (Late) was the Founding President of Illumination Society of Pakistan and a member of many international societies including Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, USA, Illumination Engineers, Society of North America, Association of Energy Engineers, USA and many more.
He was a staunch supporter of green initiatives for the generation of energy and highlighted this issue on multiple forums. His paper on Tidal Energy gained a great deal of popularity in the engineering community due to its originality and potential of positive impact for the environment. He sincerely believed that the Engineers of today owe it to the inhabitants of tomorrow to care for the climate change and take the world towards more environment friendly practices.
Engr. Syed Sibte Ahmed Jafri (Late) led a selfless live devoting his time for the service of his country. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves of grief in the engineering community. The world has lost a gem and we at Engineering Post have lost a mentor and a friend. Engineering Post offers its sincerest condolences to the bereaved family.
