The Minister of State for Water and Power claimed that 4,200MW electricity has been added in the national grid system during the past three years while 1,000 MW more electricity would be available in the system after the operation of Chashma power plant and Qadirabad power plant this month.
Ch Sher Ali was addressing a high level meeting of Gujranwala Electric Power Company. He said most of the power projects started by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government are nearing completion whereas some power plants have already been put into operation. He was confident that load-shedding would be eliminated in the country next year.
He informed that additional transformers have been supplied to all the electricity distribution companies so that the consumers’ complaints about outages could be promptly addressed during the holy month of Ramazan. He said a task force has been set up to monitor the performance of the distribution companies with regard to redressal of public complaints and load-management.
Giving a briefing to the Minister about the performance of GEPCO, CEO Muhammad Akram Ch. said the electricity transmission system of the company has been completely up-graded and no unscheduled load-shedding was being carried out in its region.
