Three-day Second Pakistan Greenbuild Expo & Conference held from 27-29 October,2016 with issuing Pakistan’s first Green Building Guidelines. Pakistan’s first Green Excellency Awards were also held to recognize environment friendly services of organizations and individuals.
Expo was jointly organized by FAKT Exhibitions and Pakistan Green Building Council at Expo Centre Karachi. It was the first ever and largest event, dedicated to green buildings, which was organized in Karachi.
Pakistan’s first Green Building Guidelines were launched during the event. Launch ceremony was attended by the representatives of National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA), Sindh Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency (SEECA), Punjab Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency (PEECA), Defense Housing Authority (DHA), Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Association of Builders & Developers (ABAD), Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP), Institute of Engineers Pakistan (IEP), Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers of Pakistan (IEEEP), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHARE), Constructors Association of Pakistan (CAP), Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Pakistan (HVAC&R), Karachi Electric (KE), Pakistan Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) and many more.
The participants of the event stressed on the importance of the green building design and construction guidelines, and how it can help us achieve the energy and water efficiency in new and existing buildings, which will help us to overcome the electrical and water shortage in Pakistan.
First ever Pakistan Green Excellency Awards were also announced this year. The awards were given in seven categories. The Green Leadership award was presented to Brig. Shahid Hassan Ali- Administrator DHA Karachi, Brig. (R) Muhammad Rafique- Project Director DHA City Karachi, Ar. Jahangir Khan Sherpao-Vice President ARCASIA Zone-A, Col. Chaudhry Muhammad Sabahuddin– Head of CSIS & CIS CitiBank Dolmen Harbour Front Karachi and Murtaza Yaqoob Ahmed- Director Artistic Milliners Garments-4 Pvt Ltd.
Other award recipients were Ar. Shahid Abdulla for Sustainable Interior Design of Citi Bank Dolmen Harbor Front Karachi, Ar. Atif I. Osmani for Sustainable Master Planning & Architectural design of DHA City Karachi(DCK), Engr. Arif I. Osmani for Sustainable Infrastructural Development of DCK, Younus Sheikh for Sustainable Engineering Design Public Health for Citi Bank Dolmen Harbor Front Karachi, Yusuf Hassan for Sustainable Engineering Design HVACR of Citi Bank Dolmen Harbor Front Karachi and Asghar Siddiqui for Sustainable Engineering Design Electrical for Citi Bank Dolmen Harbor Front Karachi.
Educational session was also held on second day of conference addressed by eminent experts from green, sustainable building design and construction industry of Pakistan. Professionals from various fields shared their experience and presented their work on energy and water conservation.
This expo was also a big success as visitors were excited to find many energy efficient building materials & equipments and water efficient fixtures and fitting all under one roof. These initiatives by Pakistan Green Building Council and FAKT Exhibitions is to promote sustainability and green building concepts among general public, private and public sector organizations.
