The four-day 17th annual National Engineering Robotics Contest (NERC) 2019, the biggest robotics contest in the country, was held at NUST College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (E&ME) Rawalpindi.
The four days event had seven categories. The prize money of these categories were sponsored by NUST, STEM Careers Programme HEC, Head Start School, NEXUS Technologies, Alfroze Pvt Ltd, Grana, NUST Alumni, EME Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ICE), Intech Automation, and IEEE young professionals
National University of Sciences and Technology, STEM Careers Programme, Higher Education Commission (HEC) and National Centre of Robotics and Automation were the organizers behind the 17th annual NERC 2019.
Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib, Founder of Akhuwat Foundation graced the event as chief guest. He said that “National Engineering Robotics Contest” is a unique platform that provides the engineering students of Pakistan with an opportunity to get the complete engineering experience.
Brig Tariq Javed SI (M), Sitara-e-Eisaar Commandant College of E&ME, highlighted how the number of participants had grown over the years and the standard of the competition has risen.
At the end of the ceremony the chief guest gave away cash prizes to the winning teams of NERC 2019 in the following categories.
- Winner NERC 2019 Shield with cash prize of Rs100,000 was awarded to team Markhor from NUST College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
- 1st Runner-up NERC 2019 Shield with cash prize of Rs70,000 was awarded to team Ghori from NUST College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
- 2nd Runner-up NERC 2019 Shield with cash prize of Rs50,000 was awarded to team Gears from Lahore Garrison University.
