UET Peshawar, PEDO Forge Partnership to Advance Renewable Energy Research and Innovation

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar and the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in renewable energy research, technology development, and capacity building for the period 2025–2026. The agreement was formalized at the Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (CAS-E), UET Peshawar.

The partnership will enable seamless access to project data, site visits, and specialized equipment to support academic and research initiatives. The MoU was signed by UET Peshawar Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Sadiq Khattak and Secretary Energy & Power Muhammad Zubair Khan, in the presence of Syed Habib Ullah Shah, CEO PEDO, along with senior officials from both institutions.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary Energy & Power Muhammad Zubair Khan emphasized the vital role of academic institutions in driving socio-economic growth. He praised UET Peshawar’s commitment to applying modern technologies to address real-world challenges and expressed confidence that the collaboration would help resolve technical barriers in PEDO’s ongoing and future power projects.

Prof Dr Sadiq Khattak highlighted UET Peshawar’s capability to support the Energy & Power Department through cutting-edge research and innovation, announcing that an international seminar will soon be held to showcase the partnership’s joint achievements.

PEDO CEO Syed Habib Ullah Shah welcomed the initiative, noting that the collaboration will accelerate practical solutions, enhance project viability, and create new avenues for engineers and youth in the province’s expanding renewable energy landscape.

Industry experts say the partnership will improve project readiness and strengthen commercialization prospects for renewable installations, boosting investor confidence and supporting sustainable energy growth across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
