Two new SEZs to be established in Sindh

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Provincial Minister for Energy, Planning and Development stated earlier that the Sindh government is looking forward to the establishment of two new Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Karachi. The basic aim for establishment of these zones is to facilitate the Chinese investors for their exports after a collaboration with the local businessmen.

According to Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, various countries have decided to end their imports from China but the Chinese products could still be indirectly imported through other countries, mainly Pakistan. He has also instructed the local businessmen to collaborate with the Chinese companies to enhance exports under the brand of “Made in Pakistan “.

He also notified that the Sindh government is actively working for the progression of infrastructure in Karachi with the help of different industrial zones. These zones have been empowered with financial and administrative autonomy to establish themselves on sustainable basis.

He also stated that a remarkably low tariff of 3.5 cents per unit has been approved for the planned solar park which will provide high quality affordable electricity to the residents of Karachi and Sindh. Moreover the provincial government is also working to empower local governments in Sindh to provide relief to the masses.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah expressed his gratitude for the foreign delegates who attended the expo as according to him, it will reflect positive developments in the country, particularly with the inflows of foreign investments.
