Two Hydropower projects to be completed in Gilgit-Baltistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Shareef presided over a meeting with the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Gulbar Khan, wherein he directed that work on two already under construction hydropower projects in Attaabad and Harpo should be accelerated. During the meeting he also sought for a feasible plan in terms of solar energy projects in Gilgit-Baltistan.

During the meeting, health, education and tourism sectors and their development was also a point of detailed discussion. PM Shehbaz Shareef directed the committee to submit proper action plans and recommendations after careful consideration on all related issues in the area.

It was informed in the meeting by the federal government that the two major hydropower projects currently under development in the area at Attaabad and Harpo will be completed on time and will ensure a smooth, uninterrupted and qualitative energy supply to the region.

The PM was also informed about the completion of Naltar Expressway which will play a vital role in the further development of the region.

PM ordered to prepare and submit an action plan regarding the betterment of tourism facilities and utilization of solar energy in Gilgit-Baltistan. He also ordered the construction of schools in all three divisions of Gilgit-Baltistan and informed that the Government is prioritizing health and education provision and facilitation to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
