CEO TUSDEC (Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company) Mr. Alamgir Chaudhry visited Multan to conduct meetings with different local stakeholders with an aim to kick start number of development initiatives in South Punjab with a special focus on agricultural mechanization.
The meetings were held among TUSDEC team and representatives of Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute Multan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan, Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA), said a Press Release issued here on Wednesday.
On his return from the visit, CEO TUSDEC, Mr. Alamgir Chaudhry showed his resolve to mobilise all available resources to push the development in Southern Punjab. The CEO said that the visit was highly fruitful for TUSDEC to identify a number of areas where interventions can be planned to develop the poorly progressed Southern Punjab. He further stated that there is large scope to introduce reverse engineering in farm implements and farm mechanisation in southern Punjab. The CEO further elaborated that TUSDEC and Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan had agreed to work on numerous projects of food processing including dehydration of mangoes, dates, mulberries, grapes, plums etc. The CEO further referenced the meeting with President Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Khawaja Jalaludin Roomi that it was agreed that there was a huge margin of working in technical textiles in the fields of sports fabrics, tyres, medical fabrics and fire & safety. It was also desired by MCCI that TUSDEC would work on the possibility to revive the Light Engineering Center working under Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC).
Mr. Sohail representing the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association also met with CEO TUSDEC Mr. Alamgir Chaudhry and discussed areas of cooperation. It was further agreed that there is a need of the standardization of the ginning tools/accessories including Ribs, Spacers & Inclined Cleaner Mesh. CEO TUSDEC also showed his resolve to mobilize all available resources to push the development in Southern Punjab and particularly ginning sector Upgradation.
