The Vision of President PHVACR Society Engr. Ramzan Sharif

Pakistan’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) sector is poised for significant advancement, driven by the dynamic vision of Engr. Ramzan Sharif, President of the Pakistan HVACR Society (PHVACR).

Central to this vision is the transformation of the Expo into a potent business catalyst. “The 30th Pakistan HVACR Expo is completely business oriented,” President Ramzan Shariff declared, emphasizing a strategic shift. To maximize networking opportunities crucial for deal-making and partnerships, the Society has arranged dedicated B2B dinners for exhibitors. Recognizing the importance of international participation, he added, “A separate dinner has been arranged for foreigners,” ensuring a welcoming and productive environment for overseas delegates. Practical considerations haven’t been overlooked either; “Timing of the expo has been changed to 11am to 7pm due to the weather conditions,” making attendance more comfortable for all participants.

Beyond the expo, Engr. Ramzan Sharif underscored a deep commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry, recognizing students as the sector’s future lifeblood. “Academia has been engaged for the conference this year,” he stated, ensuring cutting-edge knowledge dissemination. To actively remove barriers for young talent, “Students from Islamabad are being provided with a travel allowance to facilitate travelling.” Looking ahead, ambitious plans include a university-based summer camp to generate awareness about the HVACR sector and dedicated student conferences in Lahore and Islamabad, fostering early interest and career pathways.

A critical pillar of the Society’s mission is elevating the technical capabilities of Pakistan’s HVACR engineers. “Since last year PHVACR society has been working on improving the skill set of engineers according to the latest software’s and tools,” Engr. Ramzan Sharif explained. This commitment has translated into tangible action: “We have arranged various workshops from foreigners as well where core focus was to increase awareness about the latest software’s and tools.” Complementing skills development is a new thrust towards innovation. Engr. Ramzan Sharif announced, “Last year we allocated a fund for RnD for students in final years. The society will fund the projects which are up to the mark.” He passionately believes this investment will yield national dividends: “This will encourage students and make them an asset for the country and engineering community as well.”

Recognizing the distinct needs of manufacturers, Engr. Ramzan Sharif revealed a landmark achievement: “Working on understanding the requirements of local manufacturers we realized that this is not the mandate of the society we need an association for this. Now after months of efforts we have successfully created the All Pakistan HVACR Association.” This new platform is dedicated to addressing the specific challenges and opportunities faced by HVACR manufacturers and traders, creating a more cohesive industry ecosystem.

To modernize internal operations and enhance member engagement, the Society has embraced digital transformation. “A software has been developed for membership management and accounting,” Engr. Ramzan Sharif stated. This platform empowers members directly: “Ensures that members keep their own record updated. In this way all the members will stay connected,” fostering a stronger, more responsive professional community. Internally, the Society is also evolving: “Internal structure of the society has been changed a bit. Operations department is now different and technical department is different now.” Further strengthening its knowledge dissemination role, “Another team has been dedicated for the journal,” with plans to publish prestigious international papers after securing rights.

Under President Ramzan Sharif’s proactive leadership, the Pakistan HVACR Society is clearly executing a multi-faceted strategy.
