A 132 KV Grid Station was being established at the Bin Qasim Industrial Park in Karachi at an estimated cost of Rs 1483.100 million
Hub Special Economic Zone (SEZ) was being established at an estimated cost of Rs 3008.200 million.
Industrial Designing & Automation Centers were being established at Karachi, Lahore and Sialkot at an estimated cost of Rs 973.000 million.
The National Strategic Programme for Acquisition of Industrial Technology was being executed at an estimated cost of Rs 3206.900 million.
High Tensile Sheet Metal Dies Manufacturing and Titanium Costing Setup was in the process of being established at KTDMC Karachi at an estimated cost of Rs 400.000 million.
A Support Centre for Dental and Surgical Equipment was being established in Sialkot at a cost of Rs 720.400 million in a phased manner.
Acquisition of Land for Establishment of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) facilitation centers in the provincial headquarters Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta was in progress at an estimated cost of Rs 1250.000 million.
And, Product Development Centre for Composites Based Sports Good was being established in Sialkot at an estimated cost of Rs 529.800 million. Sialkot is world renowned for surgical and sports goods production.
Quite obviously all these projects were listed in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2025-26. A look at the facts and figures in the PSDP document indicate that the funds allocated for these projects were either underutilization, less than required and were suffering from cost and time escalation for varying reasons. For instance , project ” Product Development Centre for Composites Based Sports Sialkot ” was expected to be completed by end June 2026 after nine years. The project was approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in October 2017 for implementation at an estimated cost of Rs 529.770 million. In nine years period, Rs 438.153 million had been reportedly incurred on the implementation and throw forward of Rs 91.617 million has been provided in PSDP 2025-26 giving rise to hope that the project was going to be completed by end June 2026 after nine long years. All the above listed projects were also reported to be in the final stages of completion.
