Businessmen Group (BMG) chairman and former president of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Siraj Kassam Teli has asked the government to consider granting some leniency in lockdown for small businesses so they can cover some of their losses. He was approached by representatives of more than 400 market associations, requesting to intervene in the matter
While commenting on the matter he said Coronavirus (COVID-19) is not going to go anywhere and it will stay with us for the time being. It has become part of our lives and we will have to live with it. We cannot afford to keep the businesses closed forever so the government will have to devise ways and means of how to safely get back to daily routine life in the presence of the virus
He also urges the business owners to ensure strict adherence to protocols and SOPs issued by the government if and when the lockdown is lifted to avoid further spread of COVID-19.
