Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, chairing the 48th Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy Board meeting at CM House, approved a series of major infrastructure and transport initiatives, including the procurement of 500 electric buses for Karachi and Hyderabad and the development of the Karachi Port to Qayumabad (Jam Sadiq Interchange) Elevated Expressway.
The Board approved the Peoples Green Transport Project under the PPP mode, marking a milestone in Sindh’s drive toward clean and sustainable urban transport. The project will deploy 500 electric buses in phases, supported by depots, charging infrastructure, bus shelters, and an automated fare collection system. The buses, to operate under a Design, Build, Finance, Maintain, Operate, and Transfer (DBFMOT) model with a 12-year concession period, are expected to serve over 200,000 passengers daily and integrate with the Green Line BRT.
