As many as 3397 industrial units stand dysfunctional in Sindh province, which the government is ready to help make operational, Provincial Labour Minister told the Sindh Assembly.
Replying to a question, the minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, who also holds information department’s portfolio, said that around 3038 dysfunctional factories are located in Karachi and others are situated in Hyderabad region.
Shah said that there are some 421518 workers, who had a permanent employment with the dysfunctional industrial units while 228201 were labourers on daily-wages.
He accepted that some factories are defying the government’s minimum wage rule. He assured that the government will take action against such industrial units.
