Session held on Pakistan’s Kigali Implementation Plan to Strengthen Stakeholder Engagement

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC), in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), organised a dedicated session on Pakistan’s Kigali Implementation Plan (KIP) in collaboration with the Pakistan HVACR Society.

The session was held on August 25, 2026, at Beach Luxury Hotel, Karachi, with the objective of creating greater awareness about the MLF project and gathering valuable data, feedback and technical input from stakeholders associated with the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry.

The programme particularly targeted assemblers, installers and contractors, recognising their important role in the implementation of Pakistan’s Kigali-related initiatives and the transition of the HVACR sector towards more sustainable practices.

The session focused on several key areas of the industry, including large commercial refrigeration, industrial refrigeration, commercial and industrial air conditioning, and transport refrigeration. Discussions and stakeholder engagement were intended to help relevant organisations better understand the project while providing the implementing agencies with practical information from businesses and technical professionals working in the field.

The initiative also provided an opportunity for industry stakeholders to contribute their perspectives and share sector-specific information that can support planning and implementation under Pakistan’s Kigali Implementation Plan.

The collaboration between MoCC&EC, UNIDO, UNEP and the Pakistan HVACR Society reflects a coordinated approach towards engaging the HVACR industry in national environmental and climate-related initiatives. By involving assemblers, installers and contractors directly, the programme aimed to strengthen communication between policymakers, international organisations and industry practitioners.

The session formed part of broader efforts to enhance awareness and stakeholder participation in Pakistan’s implementation of the Kigali framework and to support informed decision-making for the country’s refrigeration and air-conditioning sector.
