Services exports rise 18.38% on strong IT sector growth

Pakistan’s services exports have increased by 18.38 percent in the first eight months of the current financial year 2025-26 and reached $ 6.46 billion up from $ 5.48 billion in the corresponding period of the last year. According to the data available from official sources now, the growth has been attributed to have been driven primarily by the information technology (IT), particularly telecommunications, computer, and information services, which have been reported to be the leading contributors to the country’s export earnings throughout the period under report here.

In rupee terms, services exports had risen by 19.66 percent to Rs1,818 billion in July-February 2026 as compared to Rs 1.519 billion during the corresponding period of the previous year 2024-25 reflecting sustained upward momentum in the services sector.

The services sector, it may be mentioned here, had registered moderate growth in FY 2024-25 growing by 2.9 percent compared to 2.2 percent during the previous year 2023-24. Several key-sub-sectors had performed well i.e. accommodation and food services had grown by 4.1 percent, information and communication 6.5 percent, finance and insurance 3.2 percent and public administration and social security registered growth of 9.9 percent, each reflecting a rebound from the previous trends. A notable leap had occurred in the Information and Communication sub-sector which had witnessed a growth of 6.5 percent in FY 2024-25 compared to 4.3 percent in 2023-24, driven by digital adoption and technology growth.
