Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), held a safety seminar at Wapda House Peshawar. The seminar was aimed at creating awareness among the technical staff and reiterating the importance of adopting safety precautions. 22nd January was also declared as “Safety Day”. Chief Executive Pesco Engineer Dr Muhammad Amjad Khan while addressing the participants said, “We have to adopt strict rules of safety. Safety must be given top priority to avoid electrocution and electric shocks”.
It was revealed during the seminar that from 1st July 2018 to the end of January 2019, 9 Pesco’s linemen died while 9 were seriously injured, working on lines. Pesco paid about Rs.10 Million to these died and hurt Officials as compensation..
Speakers while addressing the gathering said that it is essential to take PTW (Permit to work) and ensure electricity is suspended before initiating work. Fatal accidents can be avoided by adopting and adhering to safety regulations.
