State Minister for Communications Mr. Murad Saeed has said, in order to ensure right of access to information National Highway Authority has launched its Mobile APP enabling road users to obtain information regarding details of NHA projects, their status, CPEC routes, Road Safety Guide Lines, Toll Plazas and information relating to Motorway police on one touch. He was addressing a launching ceremony of NHA Mobile APP held at NHA headquarters. Chairman NHA Mr. Jawwad Rafique Malik, Senior officers from Ministry of Communications, National Highway Authority, National Highways and Motorway Police also participated.
Mr. Murad Saeed said, after coming into power, the targets set for the Ministry of Communications and its attached departments have almost been achieved, and that idea of NHA’s Mobile APP has been realized now. He said, transparency demands placing all information before the people and NHA’s Mobile APP will pave the way to bring about transparency in road building schemes. The application allows users to get information about ongoing projects with project name, source of funds, current progress, contact details and project location.
He further said, NHA is encouraging the undertaking of road construction projects on BOT basis. He informed that NHA’s land amounting to Rs. 1.28 billion has been recouped from the encroachers. He said, a saving of Rs. 2.7 million is recorded on account of expenditures of fuel. He said, Ministry of Communications is successfully advancing its clean and green Pakistan campaign with the cooperation of departments of Climate Change, Forest and Agriculture. He said, work on E-tendering and E-bidding is also in progress.
Chairman NHA Mr. Jawwad Rafique Malik said, NHA’ s Mobile APP will help provide information to the road users regarding road building schemes involving billions of rupees and that this APP is prepared at a very low cost and in a short time period.
