Pakistan Railways was actively planning to outsource nine major and minor passenger trains running across the country as part of its concerted efforts to improve services and increase revenue generation.
According to the information available from the Railways sources, this initiative was expected to generate around Rs 5 billion in annual revenue for the organization. The sources added that the trains will be outsourced in a transparent and open auction process.
Trains which will be outsourced as planned included Awam Express, Hazara Express, Karachi E express, Millat Express, Karakoram Express, Bahauddin Zakariya Express, Ravi Express, Thal Express, and Faiz Ahmad Faiz Express.
