The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar organised a workshop on quality services for students in 2nd week of February.
The objective was to discuss and exchange information on quality of service in terms of standardization and best practices in higher education. The Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain was the chief guest.
He said the workshop will help faculty to understand how they can assure quality in their respective departments, faculties and support services to enable them make appropriate assessments and improvements in all institutional activities.
The VC expressed his satisfaction over the performance of QEC which has raised the QEC index of UET Peshawar from 53 to 79 amongst public sector universities.
During the last year, he added, issues related to promotions of staff have been resolved through holding selection boards at regular intervals and now is a time that faculty deliver back to the students through quality education.The Director QEC, Prof Dr Saher Noor also spoke on the occasion. He said the students are our main focus and with strengthening of student support at all campuses of UET Peshawar it will yield better results, retention and excellent graduates.
The workshop included topics related to faculty teaching, semester and examinations system and CMS to improve the operations.
Dr M A Irfan, Professor Mechanical Engineering also shared the best practices from universities of China and Saudi Arabia which have adopted the international accreditations.
