The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Harvard Kennedy School of USA for conducting joint research.
A PSCA spokesman said the Center for Economic Research Pakistan (CERP) will also extend coordination in this regard. The MoU was signed by PSCA Chief Operating Officer (COO) Akbar Nasir Khan and Center for Economic Research Pakistan Board Member Dr Ali Cheema in the presence of Professor HKS Dr Asim Khawaja, Research Manager HKS Fay Terrett and Research Fellow Julia Ledics.
During the signing ceremony, he said, all the participants decided to work on a “state authority project” which will analyze framework and symmetry of complaints received at emergency helpline (15) and police responses to redress and resolve the same.
He said the Harvard Research team will stay at the PSCA and they will directly probe citizens for their opinions and feedback on the emergency responses provided by integrated policing mechanism of the authority.
COO Akbar Nasir Khan expressed that the outcome will help them calibrate and enhance police prowess which would end up garnering trust of the public. He said the PSCA is also extending its role of a mentor to partner organizations and law enforcement agencies. Later, both the teams were later taken to various arms and functions of the PPIC-3 for first-hand insight.
