Port Qasim Facility to Drive A to Zee’s Entry into Busway Manufacturing

Mr. Jawed Zaman Khan talks to Engineering Post

A to Zee Switchgear Engineering (SMC-Pvt.) Ltd., one of Pakistan’s leading manufacturers of electrical panels and switchgear, has taken another bold step in its international journey by opening a new office in Dubai’s Maidan Freezone. This strategic initiative, driven by CEO Mr. Jawed Zaman Khan, is designed to strengthen the company’s global reach while at the same time enhancing support for its customers back home in Pakistan.

In an exclusive discussion with Engineering Post, Mr. Jawed Zaman emphasized the multiple benefits of this expansion under the banner of A to Zee Electrical International. He explained, “Establishing a base in Dubai is a vital move for our international business model. It allows us to engage more smoothly and reliably with clients across challenging regions.” He added that in markets such as Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and the broader Middle East, Dubai serves as a trusted hub for handling payments, logistics, and customer interactions.

A to Zee plans to capitalize on its strong production base in Pakistan by supplying the Dubai market through a (CKD) model, which enables efficient shipping and cost-effective assembly in the UAE while ensuring strict quality control from Pakistan. According to Mr. Jawed Zaman, the new Dubai office will not only strengthen international operations but also create new opportunities for Pakistani clients by simplifying trade through this global connection.

In a major development, Mr. Jawed Zaman revealed that A to Zee Switchgear Engineering has finalized a state-of-the-art busway manufacturing facility from China, which will be installed at the Port Qasim Manufacturing Facility starting January 2026, InshaAllah. This advancement will promote “Made in Pakistan” products, support local industrial growth, and contribute to strengthening the national economy. He added that the Port Qasim facility will become a central hub for both domestic and international markets, allowing the company to meet the rising demand for advanced busway systems with higher efficiency and faster delivery timelines.

Mr. Jawed Zaman explained that the Port Qasim Manufacturing Facility is being designed as a fully integrated plant, where all operations, from mechanical fabrication to electrical testing, will be consolidated under one roof. This consolidation will not only reduce overhead costs but also accelerate the company’s ability to respond to urgent client requirements. He emphasized that the facility will be equipped with modern automation and precision machinery, setting a new benchmark for local manufacturing standards.

The company’s strong reputation is built on consistent delivery, technical excellence, and the successful execution of high-profile projects. “One of our biggest strengths is the availability of stock and the reliability of our designs,” Mr. Jawed Zaman remarked. Looking toward the future, A to Zee Switchgear Engineering is investing heavily in new technologies and infrastructure. The company has developed strong expertise in medium voltage switchgear and is currently the only firm in Karachi equipped with complete testing facilities for MV panels, something Mr. Zaman considers a clear competitive advantage.

Beyond technical upgrades, the company is also eyeing product diversification. Along with Sandwich Busways, A to Zee is exploring the introduction of energy-efficient solutions tailored for the renewable energy sector, including solar-compatible switchgear and hybrid systems. These initiatives will further align the company with global trends while creating opportunities for export growth.

With a clear vision, strong leadership, and continuous investment in technology, A to Zee Switchgear Engineering is positioning itself not only as a market leader in Pakistan but as a formidable player in the global switchgear industry.
