Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Production Declined in April 2025

Report by Engineering Post

Pakistan relies heavily on oil imports and its production was not so encouraging and promising while consumption was rapidly increasing with the passing of every day.

Country’s oil and gas production had declined in April 2025 with oil output dropping by 14 % on Year-on-Year (YoY) basis to an average of 58890 barrels per day while gas production decreased by 8% averaging 2717 million cubic feet per day as per the latest data officially released

During the first ten months of the outgoing financial year 2024-/25, the decline had continued with oil and gas production dropping by 11 percent and 7 percent on YoY basis respectively. The decline in production of both the oil and gas production had been attributed to forced curtailments in the production at major oil and gas fields mainly due to the reduced consumers demand for gas. According to some reports, such curtailment was partly linked to the availability of imported Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) from Qatar under long-term agreements.
