Pakistan’s IT exports rise to $4.5bn in 2025-26

Pakistan’s information technology (IT) exports reached approximately $4.5 billion during fiscal year 2025-26, reflecting the continued expansion of the country’s digital economy and the successful diversification of technology firms into new international markets beyond the United States and Europe.

The export figure marks a significant increase from $3.475 billion recorded in the previous fiscal year, extending the sector’s uninterrupted growth trajectory throughout FY2025-26.

According to industry estimates, Pakistani small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) increasingly expanded their presence in Asia-Pacific (APAC) markets, particularly Japan and Singapore, reducing their traditional dependence on the US and European markets. Alongside software development, high-growth segments including Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and the gaming industry continued to gain momentum globally, driven by Pakistan’s young, skilled and cost-competitive workforce.

Nagesh Devata, Senior Vice President and Head of APAC at Payoneer, said the sustained growth reflects strong international demand for Pakistan’s digital services and the industry’s focus on building diversified revenue streams across multiple global markets. He noted that expansion into Asia-Pacific markets requires businesses to adapt to different local payment ecosystems, making reliable cross-border financial infrastructure increasingly important.

To support Pakistani exporters, Payoneer is enhancing its services by offering multi-currency payment capabilities, enabling businesses to receive and manage payments in major international currencies, including the US dollar, euro, British pound, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, Japanese yen and Singapore dollar, thereby facilitating smoother cross-border trade and international business expansion.
