Pakistan’s very first low- carbon energy storage as a Service project (EsaaS) project was recently launched, marking a significant step towards innovation and sustainability. The landmark event was organized by Brillanz Group in partnership with Telenor Pakistan, Bank of Punjab, Saudi Arabia Investment Company and supported by the Ministry of Climate change.
Fahad Haroon, State Minister and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Digital Media addressed during the event and highlighted the importance of this step towards the betterment and progress of sustainability in the Telecommunications sector. He underscored the role of digital media in making this project a complete success by portraying Pakistan as the rightfully leading platform for investment opportunities.
Coordinator to the Prime Minister & Minister-in-charge on Climate Change & Environmental Coordination, Romina Alam praised the project by stating it as an example of how technology and innovation can drive meaningful climate action, highlighting Pakistan’s deeper climate goals and the role of this project in their achievement.
Bilal Qureshi, CEO Brillanz Group, while addressing the event, said “This initiative sets a new benchmark for sustainable innovation in the Telecom sector. It’s more than an investment; it’s a commitment to reducing over 21 million liters of diesel consumption in Phase I, translating into significant cost savings of over PKR 5 billion and environmental benefits.”
This project, being the country’s first ESaaS project, is said to cut the carbon footprint of the telecom sector by 58.3 kT, which is approximately equivalent to planting 2 million trees. Sultan Abdulrauf, Chairman of Saudi-Pak Investment Company and Farid Khan, Group Chief Corporate & Investment Banking at Bank of Punjab, gave their insights on the financial structuring of the project by Brillanz Group and told the critical importance of the finance sector in driving sustainable projects.
