Pakistan taking appropriate measures to strengthen digital transformation and cyber security framework

Pakistan continues to take appropriate measures and initiatives at the high levels to strengthen digital transformation and cyber security framework in order to keep pace with digitalization innovations taking place the world over.

According to the information available from the official resources in this regard, Pakistan already had passed the Digital Nation Pakistan Act 2025 the first time ever under which the federal government has established the Pakistan Digital Authority as well as the National Digital Commission. The National Digital Commission so constituted is to be chaired by the Prime Minister and also include all the four provincial chief ministers, federal cabinet members and regulatory bodies to ensure nationwide representation in the digital policy decisions.

The Pakistan Digital Authority has been assigned the important task of preparing a National Digital Master Plan which will be approved by the National Digital Commission as and when finalized and submitted to it for approval .

The sources pointedly stated that all major digital decisions regarding digital transformation will be taken under the Prime Minister’s leadership with relevant participation from the federal and provincial stakeholders at the appropriate levels.

As regards the National AI (Artificial Intelligence) Policy recently approved by the federal government, the sources described it as a groundbreaking and revolutionary policy which was aligned with the national vision for a Digital Nation Pakistan and focuses on six pillars, including infrastructure, innovation, training, and secure and ethical deployment of the AI framework will address concerns such as misinformation, disinformation, children’s’ online safety and citizens privacy.

Pakistan has also already approved the national cyber security framework which was designed to safeguard public sector digital infrastructure.
