The Conference of the OIC Ministers for Water has elected Pakistan as its member for a period of 2 years 2019-2020. The decision was taken during the fourth session of the conference held in Cairo Egypt. The conference asked the member states and their respective research institutions to share their experiences in the field of water resource management. It also encouraged other OIC organs such as the IDB to promote cooperation with members
Pakistan was also elected as Vice Chairman to the ICMW (Islamic Conference of Ministers Responsible for Water) Bureau. Ambassador of Pakistan to Egypt, Mushtaq Ali Shah emphasized how much importance the present government is giving to sustainable water management and conservation and reaffirmed the desire of Pakistan to share its expertise and experience with the brotherly Islamic countries.
