Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization, and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, accompanied by his delegation, held a significant meeting with Israfil Mammadov, CEO of the State Oil Fund, in Baku, Azerbaijan. The talks focused on promoting bilateral investment and business initiatives between the two nations, further bolstering their longstanding friendship.
After completing a three-day visit to Morocco, Minister Aleem Khan arrived in Baku, affirming that Azerbaijan holds a cherished place in the hearts of the Pakistani people. He highlighted that the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan are on a promising trajectory, thanks in part to the diligent efforts of Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, whose active engagement has paved the way for improved ties.
The minister emphasized the successful establishment of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Joint Chamber of Commerce in Islamabad. He outlined plans to create exhibition centers designed to showcase products effectively, thereby boosting imports and exports for both states. In discussions with the State Oil Fund, Aleem Khan noted that the partnership between the two countries is entering a new, brighter phase for Pakistan. He also proposed potential Azerbaijani investment in Pakistan’s communications sector, particularly in constructing motorways in Sindh and Karachi, which would enhance connectivity with Central Asia.
Welcomed warmly by Azerbaijani officials, including SOCAR President Rovshanf Najaf, the meeting comes as Pakistan’s Prime Minister prepares for an upcoming visit to Azerbaijan, marking a key milestone in their strategic partnership. Officials also stressed the importance of deepening cultural, economic, and diplomatic links for mutual prosperity in the region.
