The 100 dam project for the province of Balochistan is now entering Phase III. The dams are being built for flood mitigation and to raise the water table in the region for irrigation.
Package-III will cost Rs 8.877 billion under which 20 small to medium dams will be built in Balochistan. According to the official website of Ministry of Water Resources there are more than 30 different projects related to construction of water reservoirs in Balochistan province
The dams will also provide drinking water to the population and livestock of the adjoining areas. It would also supply about 125.5 million m3 of conserved flood water for direct irrigation and drinking purposes and will benefit about 58,500 acres (23,684 hectares) of fertile land.
