Outgoing WAPDA chairman paid farewell visits to game changing mega projects

Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain, outgoing WAPDA chairman paid his last tributes to the company by visiting four distinct WAPDA project sites that are under construction and are considered mega projects which will bring about one of the biggest developmental inclines for energy sector of Pakistan. These include Mohmand Dam project, the construction of 5th extension of Tarbela, Dasu and Diamer Bhasha Dam.

Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain visited all four sites and highlighted the significance of each by saying that the projects will essentially increase the water storage capacity and help in the production of a large amount of green hydro generated energy supply which is going to play an extremely vital role in the upcoming years for the country. He said that the ongoing projects will become a silent revolution taking place in Pakistan as WAPDA is working for 10 mega projects at a very good pace. The projects are expected to be completed between 2022 and 2029. The gross water storage capacity is expected to increase by 11.7 million acre feet and the hydel power generation will capacitate the power supply with 11,369 megawatts of energy. 3.5 million acres of land will be irrigated and 44.7 billion units of electricity will be created annually by these projects.

He said “Integrity, dignity and competence reign supreme. I am fortunate to have good people around me. We were mindful of the fact that WAPDA must stand up to tackle these challenges. WAPDA not only completed four long-stranded projects but also had been able to initiate 10 mega projects by removing the bottlenecks.” Management, consultants and representatives of the company were also accompanied by them.
