Hydrocarbon reserves have been discovered in Kohat region of KPK. According to initial details 1844bpd (barrels per day) of oil and 18.25mmcfd (million cubic feet per day) of gas is encountered. It is pertinent to note that according to the company, actual production number may differ after further testing is carried out.
The hydrocarbons have been discovered in Makori Deep-2 in partner operated TAL block. TAL block is operated by MOL with joint venture partners including POL, PPL and OGDC having 21 percent, 27 percent and 27 percent stake, respectively. The production is expected to start from December 2019.
MOL Pakistan is engaged in extensive exploration and production activities. It is the operator of TAL and Margala blocks and is currently producing oil & gas from TAL block. Recently, MOL Pakistan has farmed-in, in DG Khan as a non-operating partner with Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL).
