The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has successfully revived a heavy oil well in the Rajian Oil Field, Chakwal, boosting production from 1,500 to 2,500 barrels per day (BPD). This milestone aligns with OGDCL’s strategic efforts to enhance energy production and ensure energy security in Pakistan.
The Rajian-3A well, which had been suspended since 2020, was revived using innovative technologies, including Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP). This intervention alone added 1,000 BPD to the production. The successful revival demonstrates the effective implementation of advanced technologies and operational optimization.
OGDCL’s broader optimization plan includes the revival of 10 additional wells. The company is employing methods such as workovers and advanced artificial lift systems to maximize production efficiency. Rig N-4 is actively supporting these operations, further improving operational outcomes.
This achievement underscores OGDCL’s dedication to sustainable energy development and operational excellence. By leveraging innovative solutions and focusing on reviving underutilized resources, OGDCL plays a crucial role in strengthening Pakistan’s energy sector. The initiative not only increases domestic energy production but also contributes to reducing reliance on energy imports.
