OGDCL discovers Gas deposits in Rahim Yar Khan

The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), has achieved a significant milestone in its exploration endeavors. The company has successfully discovered gas from its exploratory well, Chak 202-1, situated in District Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab.

Chak 202-1, which commenced drilling operations on June 29, 2024, was undertaken as an exploratory well with the aim of identifying potential hydrocarbon reserves in the region. The well was drilled utilizing OGDCL’s in-house expertise and technical capabilities, showcasing the company’s self-sufficiency in exploration activities.

The exploratory efforts culminated in a successful discovery at a depth of 1956.50 meters. The presence of gas in the well signifies a promising development for OGDCL and the energy sector of Pakistan. This discovery holds the potential to augment the country’s domestic gas supply, reduce reliance on imports, and contribute to the overall energy security of the nation.
