The team from NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (SEECS) won the Telenor DigiGov Hackfest 2018, held at Telenor HQ from December 14-16, 2018. The competition was aimed at finding innovative solutions to address social problems of Pakistan. SEECS team came up with “RealPharma” which is a start-up aimed at eliminating counterfeit medicines from the Pakistani market. Fake medicines constitute more than 50% of the total medicines being sold to users in Pakistan and are the leading cause of adverse drug reactions and reduced efficacy despite strict measures being taken by the government.
The HackFest was organised by Telenor in collaboration with Microsoft, Saylani Welfare Trust, International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Pakistan and NUST Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter.
