NHA suffered Rs 288 Billion deficit in 2025

The National Highway Authority (NHA) of the Communication Division of the Federal Government has recorded a deficit of Rs 288.54 billion in FY 2024-25 and its cumulative deficit since its inception to Rs 2.07  trillion.

According to the Auditor General of Pakistan’s Audit Report for 2025-26 , covering  FY 2023-24  and FY 2024-25, the NHA had generated  total revenue of Rs  122.02 billion during  FY 2024-25 and its total  income had remained  its main source of earnings of Rs 64.47 billion  or 52.8 % of its total  revenue.

Despite this revenue base, the NHA continued to face pressure in maintaining the national road network and repaying Cash Development Loans from its available resources.

The NHA’s  assets stood at Rs 5.83 trillion, while its  total debt  burden was reported to be b3.75 trillion including Rs 1.40 trillion in mark up. Its long-term loans stood at Rs 1799.313 billion in Y 2024-25, making them the authority’s  largest  long-term financial liability.
