Senate standing committee on communication met under the chairman ship of Senator Hidayatullah. The meeting was attended by High ranking officials including Federal Secretary Communications Mr. Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Chairman NHA Mr. Jawwad Rafique Malik and Senior officers from Ministry of Communications and National Highway Authority. The Committee was told about the senior officers serving NHA including 509 officers in grade 17-22. The expenditures on machinery and vehicles as well as operation and Management of Toll Plazas and Weigh Stations was discussed in detail.
Chairman NHA Mr. Jawwad Malik informed the committee that NHA had required Rs. 22 Billion worth of funds out of which Rs. 12 Billion have been granted by the government. NHA is determined to build quality projects utilizing the available resources.
