National Highway Authority (NHA) is committed to provide a safe, modern and efficient transportation system in the country on its own as well as in collaboration with local and foreign development partners.
The eastern and western parts will be further augmented with major projects like Karachi-Lahore Motorway, Multan-Sukkur Motorway and Hakla- Dera Ismail Khan Motorway under great game changer China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
NHA’s existing portfolio consists of as many as 46 ongoing projects involving total estimated cost of Rs 1666129.972 million including foreign exchange component of Rs 463271.000 million.
Against this, estimated total expenditure of Rs 1067972.425 million was reported to have been incurred on the continued implementation of these projects till June 2021. For continuing construction work on these ongoing projects in a phased manner, NHA was allocated Rs 99375.000 million including foreign exchange component of Rs 20741.528 million under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) of the Federal Government for the ongoing financial year 2021-22.
NHA achievements and performance during financial year include Construction of Burhan-Havelian Expressway (E-35) 29.1 kilometer (revised; Construction of Faisalabad –Khanewal Motor5way (M-4) 184 km; Construction of roads network for Islamabad International Airport, main link, Thalian Link and periphery road 26 km, Karachi-Hyderabad( M-9) 134.5 km, and; Construction of Karakoram (KKH) Phase-11 Havbelian-Thakot,118.057 km (CPEC).
Briefly speaking, these projects include Construction of Gojra-Khanewal Motorway (M-4); Post Flood National Highways and Rehabilitation project; Burhan-Havelian Expressway (E-35); Zhob-Mughalkot Section of N-50 Qila Saifullah- Waigum Road section of N-70; CAREC Corridor Deelopment Investment Programme (Tranche-1,11 and 111); Construction of additional carriageway Petaro-Sehwan section of N-55;Rehabilitation Peshawar-Dera Adam Khel of N-55; Construction of additional carriageway Shikarpur-Ratodero of N-55; Construction of additional carriageway Shikarpur- Rajanpur section of N-55; Construction of 4-lane highway Rajanpur-Dera Ghazi Khan; Construction of additional carriageway Dera Ghazi Khan-Dera Ismail Khan section of N-55; Improvement and widening of Chakdara-Chitral section of N-45; Malakand Tunnel ( Construction of 9.7 km Malakand Tunnel is ongoing to provide a short route for the people of Malakand, Upper Dir, Lower Dir and Swat, Malakand Pass lies between Dargai-Batkhela).
