China’s newly-appointed Ambassador Nong Rong called on the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the second week of November. The foreign minister appreciated the strong credentials and experience of the new Chinese ambassador and hoped that Pakistan-China ties would further deepen and strengthen during his term.
The foreign minister thanked China for its steadfast support to Pakistan on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute saying that Pakistan and China were “all-weather strategic cooperative partners,”
The foreign minister emphasised the importance of timely completion and operationalization of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects especially at the port city of Gwadar. He said he hoped that the ambassador, with his experience in trade and infrastructure development, would fast track the CPEC projects and promote industrialisation in Pakistan.
