Nearly Four Decades of Integrated Engineering Excellence

An Interview with Mr. Mahmood Ahmad, Managing Partner, Engineering Services

Engineering Post: Engineering Services has been operating since 1984, which is a remarkable milestone in Pakistan’s engineering sector. How would you describe the journey so far?

Mr. Mahmood Ahmad: Sustaining uninterrupted operations for nearly four decades is indeed rare, and we take great pride in that. Since 1984, Engineering Services has focused on disciplined execution, technical rigor, and long-term client relationships. Our philosophy has always been simple: deliver quality work, comply fully with codes and regulations, and stand by our commitments. Many of our clients have worked with us for decades, not just on individual projects, and that continuity reflects trust built over time.

Engineering Post: How has Engineering Services evolved in terms of technical capabilities and service offerings?

Mr. Mahmood Ahmad: We began with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, and over the years we have evolved into a comprehensive MEP engineering firm. Our core expertise includes HVAC systems, plumbing, fire detection and firefighting systems, and telecommunication plumbing and construction services. As industry needs expanded, so did our scope—today we are also active in solar energy systems, CNG station setup and maintenance, and large-scale telecom infrastructure projects.

What differentiates us is our ability to manage technically complex projects while remaining fully compliant with regulatory frameworks. From planning and design development to construction and commissioning, our teams ensure alignment with both engineering standards and client expectations.

Engineering Post: Sustainability has become a major focus globally. How is Engineering Services responding to this shift?

Mr. Mahmood Ahmad: Sustainability is no longer optional—it is a responsibility. We recognized this early and partnered with certified professionals to offer USGBC (LEED) Green Building Certification consultancy. Through energy-efficient HVAC systems, optimized designs, and green building advisory services, we help clients reduce their environmental impact and operational costs.

Decarbonization and responsible construction are now central to how infrastructure must be developed. Our goal is to ensure that engineering solutions are not only technically sound but also environmentally responsible and future-ready.

Engineering Post: Your project portfolio spans multiple sectors. How do you maintain consistency and quality across such diversity?

Mr. Mahmood Ahmad: The key lies in our people and processes. Engineering Services employs over 100 engineers and technical professionals across major cities in Pakistan. We invest heavily in training, technology, and knowledge sharing. Our teams operate within clearly defined quality systems, ensuring that whether a project is industrial, commercial, or infrastructure-based, the same standards of excellence apply.

We also foster a culture of collaboration—internally and with clients, consultants, and contractors. This integrated approach helps us manage complexity while maintaining speed, accuracy, and accountability.

Engineering Post: What role do vision and values play in guiding the organization?

Mr. Mahmood Ahmad: Our vision is to be a leading international MEP engineering firm, recognized for professional excellence, ethical conduct, and sustainable practices. Our mission emphasizes technological advancement delivered responsibly and ethically.

Values such as integrity, transparency, and accountability are deeply embedded in how we operate. They are not marketing statements; they guide our decisions, relationships, and project execution. We believe that development is a continuous process, not a series of isolated projects.

Engineering Post: Looking ahead, how do you see Engineering Services positioning itself for the future?

Mr. Mahmood Ahmad: We see growth not just in scale, but in impact. With projects across Pakistan and ambitions beyond national borders, our focus remains on learning, adapting, and investing in technology and human capital. As long as we continue to uphold quality, ethical leadership, and innovation, Engineering Services will remain well-positioned to meet future challenges.
