National AI Policy formulated and approved

The Federal Government is earnestly pursuing measures, adopting appropriate decisions and taking policy decisions for Pakistan’s digital transformation in order to keep pace with rapid developments, innovations and technologies coming up around the world.

In this regard, Pakistan’s first-ever National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy 2025 has since been formulated by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, submitted for approval at the appropriate highest level and reported to have been unanimously duly approved by the Federal Cabinet.

According to the information available, the policy aims at establishing a comprehensive AI ecosystem in the country and democratizing access to artificial intelligence, enhancing public services and opening up new employment and innovation avenues.

Under the policy, one million AI professionals are to be trained by 2030, AI Innovation Fund and AI Venture Fund will be established for boosting the private sector involvement , creation of as many as 50 thousand AI driven civic projects and 1000 local AI projects in the next five years, distribution of 3000 aI scholarships every year and facilitation of 1000 research projects, inclusion of women and differently -abled individuals through accessible education and financing, strengthening cybersecurity and national data security protocols, promoting global partnerships and complying with the International AI regulations.
