- Green energy technology, decarbonisation strategies, and regional power markets to dominate discussions between April 16-18 at Dubai World Trade Centre
- Three dedicated stages – Leadership Summit, Technical Seminar, and Intersolar & ees Middle East Conference will intensify efforts towards accelerating global transformation
A keen focus on accelerating the global energy transformation and exploring opportunities at the cusp of the transition towards sustainability will be the central themes at this year’s 49th edition of Middle East Energy (MEE). The annual event, which will run from April 16-18 at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), is set to be its largest edition to date with more than 250 speakers across three stages.
As the Middle East and Africa’s most comprehensive energy exhibition, industry experts and leaders will have access to three dynamic conferences at the event: the Middle East Energy Leadership Summit, Technical Seminar, and Intersolar & ees (Electrical Energy Storage) Middle East Conference. Each of these will help accelerate the groundwork and mobilise efforts towards efficiently meeting the energy needs of the future.
“We have curated these stages to provide an immersive experience for all attendees to understand the importance of swift action and the long-term impact of the global momentum towards energy transition across different industries,” said Azzan Mohammed, Group Exhibition Director, Energy portfolio at Informa Markets. “The shift towards a low-carbon economy is inevitable. By bringing together key government and private sector leaders and decision-makers under one roof, we are creating a platform that will boost the pace from discussion to implementation and help us amplify our efforts towards creating an integrated energy system.”
The Middle East Energy Leadership Summit is an exclusive, high-level forum that brings together senior decision-makers from across the MENA region to discuss in-depth insights about the future of the energy and utilities sector. This year’s agenda, in line with the summit’s theme of ‘driving the power sector transformation forward’, will navigate the discussion around key trending topics such as the impact of the electric vehicle market on electricity systems, decarbonisation of power assets, regional power markets, and finance and investment opportunities in the region. alfanar, the leading international solution providers in Energy, Water, and Infrastructure industries have been confirmed as the gold sponsors for the Summit.
The MENA region has placed increased emphasis on decarbonisation of the energy sector as part of its efforts to diversify its economies and contribute to the journey to achieving net-zero emissions. For a region that has been heavily reliant on oil and gas revenues, the transition to clean energy technology and a circular carbon economy is an imperative step strongly backed by government policies embracing net-zero targets.
According to UNCTAD’s World Investment Report 2023, an annual global investment of US$4 trillion is needed to finance the transition away from fossil fuels.
“By bringing together prominent business leaders from across the global energy sector, Middle East Energy is playing an instrumental role in pushing the discourse on sustainability and exploring the untapped opportunities that the region can embrace through this transition,” added Mohammed.
During the three-day event, participants can access two additional conferences that will run alongside the Middle East Energy Leadership Summit. The Technical Seminar will feature prominent speakers exploring successful projects in the energy sector, with a focus on how cutting-edge research and innovation can be realistically applied across the energy and utilities sectors, specifically within power plants, transmission, and distribution grids.
Showcasing its commitment to augment the shift to renewable energy, a dedicated conference will highlight the transformative dynamic of clean energy alternatives. The Intersolar & ees Middle East Conference has been designed to play a key role in bringing together likeminded enthusiasts looking to uncover a comprehensive understanding of the global energy transition, as well as learn how they can home in on the numerous benefits from the adoption of renewal energy sources. DEKRA, the global provider of comprehensive services and solutions in power transmission, distribution, and certification, are the silver sponsors for the Intersolar & ees Middle East Conference.
According to the Global Energy Monitor, the MENA region has witnessed a 400 per cent year-on-year growth in renewable energy capacity since 2022. Now, with more than 1,500 local and international companies exhibiting their products and solutions in renewables, transmission, and energy consumption across 28,500sqm of exhibition space, Middle East Energy 2024 is set to break its previous visitor and buyer records and cement its place as the most-anticipated energy show in the region.
