At Usman Institute of Technology Karachi, Pakistan LSF Construction Association organized a seminar on BRB Earthquake Protection System. The seminar was attended by members from industry and academia. The afresh established forum discussed the opportunities to support new housing sector needs with affordable and new sustainable technologies. Abdul Malik, Director International Marketing and Sales of Steel Canada Toronto explained about the CanBrace BRB Earthquake Protection System. This BRB System was tested at NEDUET under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Masood Rafi, Chairman Earth Quake Engineering NEDUET few years back. CanBrace is a new technology for protection of RC as well as Steel structures from Earthquakes. The system has already been tested at NED’s Seismic Laboratory as well in Canada, China and Bangladesh with phenomenal results. Abdul Malik along with Canadian Trade Commissioner and Pakistan LSF Construction Association team met the Chairman Task Force; Prime Minister’s Naya Pakistan Housing Program. He briefed him about the importance of BRB System and offered his services to produce this system indigenously to lower cost by creating employment opportunities and export possibilities from Pakistan.
