Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, announced that the Larkana Industrial Zone has been granted Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status. He made the statement during the signing ceremony of an agreement between the Sindh Industrial and Trading Estates (SITE), the Government of Sindh, and the Government of Pakistan.
Jam Ikramullah Dharejo highlighted that the SEZ designation opens up vast opportunities for local agro-based industrialists. The zone was declared a SEZ after the completion of its infrastructure construction and development by the SITA Association. With the new status, the Larkana Industrial Zone has now been fully handed over to the Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA).
The Larkana Industrial Zone project began in 2017 and was completed in 2021 at a total cost exceeding Rs. 1,366 million. Spanning over 500 acres, the zone includes 94 industrial plots, each one acre in size, along with commercial plots of 1,000 square yards. The establishment of this SEZ is expected to attract significant investment and boost economic growth in the region.
