The development work on Chitral Economic Zone has officially been completed
along with the inauguration of an advanced industrial facilitation office building
according to the officials from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. This
achievement is being considered as a huge milestone in the journey towards
overall industrial development. The inauguration ceremony took place at Gang
Ghereth near Drosh in District Chitral. The zone was formally inaugurated by KP
caretaker Minister for Industries, Commerce, Technical Education and Affairs of
the Newly Merged Districts, Dr Aamer Abdullah.
The major event of the ceremony was the unveiling of plaques representing the
successful completion of the development works in the said zone. The CEO
outlined the comprehensive plan that has been put forward for the Chitral
Economic zone.
While delivering a speech during the ceremony, Dr. Aamir Abdullah stated that
the project will prove to be a game changer for the overall economic
development of the region. He also expressed his hope for a further progress in
the industrial facilitation by the government of Pakistan. He directed that the
responsible parties should create further ease and work even harder for the
development of these zones and said that all possible support will be provided by
the provincial government in this regard. He also informed that Chitral EZ will
soon be converted to a Special Economic Zone considering the significance of this
region.
The CEO KP-EZMDC also gave a briefing during the ceremony and stated that
keeping in view the overwhelming response and interest of potential investors an
additional land of 1.72 acres of land has also been acquired. He said that due to
its reach through the Lowari Tunnel, located along an alternative route of the
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) the Chitral Economic Zone boasts high
potential of growth. This alternative route witnesses massive inflow of tourists
each year, making Chitral Economic Zone strategically positioned for economic
success.
During the ceremony, Dr Aamer Abdullah also handed over the official allotment
letters to various investors who have received plots in the zone for industrial
purposes. He expressed his admiration for the hard work and dedication exhibited
by the KP-EZDMC management.
