K-Electric (KE) Director External Affairs Asmer Naeem has said that KE is ready to provide for the industrial demands of the consumers in the summer season. He said this during a meeting of Site Association of Industry (SAI). He said that KE is anticipating a load of 3400KW this summer for which necessary arrangements have been made. He said that negotiations are also in progress with the govt to get extra load.
He further informed the meeting that there will be no revision in KE tariff based on reduced oil prices unless the tariff of all DISCOs is revised. He said that KE cannot revise its tariffs independently because KE tarrifs are regulated by NEPRA.
Saleem Parekh stated that customers will shift from KE to gasRLNG if the tariff is not reduced and quoted a bulk consumer who was interested in switching to gas. RLNG is a much cheaper option than natural gas. Suleman Chawla added that in future, KE should go for RLNG instead of depending on SSGC for natural gas.
SAI former president Saleem Parekh highlighted issues being faced by the zero-rated sector in getting the required certificate from FBR which is mandatory to obtain a special tariff of 7.5 centsKWH and asked for cooperation from KE.
