Asad Umar, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, held a meeting to discuss progress on Greater Karachi Water Supply Project (K-IV), and sent a summary of the change to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), while paving ways for WAPDA to officially take over the project. The chairman WAPDA and MNA Najeeb Haroon gave a detailed presentation on the project including its physical and financial progress, issues associated with the project and decisions required for implementation under newly changed measures. As the water shortage in Karachi is swear and the project needs to be carried out on a faster track and project cost will be shared by the federal and provincial governments on 50:50 ratios, Asad Umar has directed the WAPDA to immediately take over the implementation responsibilities to complete it in the shortest span.
