Iran to supply 100MW daily to Gwadar

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made a significant announcement regarding the power project in Balochistan’s Gwadar region, emphasizing its importance for the area’s energy needs. He revealed that Iran will provide a daily supply of 100 megawatts of electricity to Gwadar once the Polan-Gabd electricity transmission line project becomes operational. This announcement came during a media briefing, following the inauguration of the transmission line project and a marketplace at the Mand-Pishin border crossing point, in the presence of Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi.

The prime minister stressed that the newly established transmission line will play a pivotal role in meeting the energy requirements of the region, benefiting households and businesses. It will facilitate the importation of an additional 100MW of electricity from Iran, significantly contributing to the power supply in Gwadar and its surrounding areas.

While speaking at the occasion Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the importance of enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. He described the energy projects and border markets as symbols of the enduring friendship between the two nations. The prime minister emphasized the deep-rooted religious, cultural, and linguistic ties that bind Pakistan and Iran, stating that both governments are closely collaborating for the betterment and socio-economic upliftment of their peoples.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif further emphasized that the Mand-Pishin border marketplace and the Polan-Gabd electricity project are tangible manifestations of this resolve for cooperation. He expressed optimism that these initiatives will serve as stepping stones for even greater economic cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
