Haroon Brothers, founded in 1978 by the late Chaudhary Haroon Rashid, has grown from a modest trading firm in Lahore to a pioneering name in Pakistan’s engineering sector. Starting with the import of iron and steel, the company quickly diversified into weighing equipment, becoming the first in the country to locally manufacture and export complete weighbridges. Over the decades, Haroon Brothers has expanded its expertise into industrial automation and renewable energy, earning recognition from national and international bodies for its innovative solutions and unwavering commitment to quality.
In an exclusive conversation with Engineering Post, Asim Rashid, Managing Partner of Haroon Brothers, reflected on the company’s remarkable journey and legacy. “What began as a small trading venture by my father has now become a diversified engineering company serving industries across Pakistan,” he remarked.
The company’s major transition came in 1982, when it entered the weighing equipment sector by importing road and rail weighbridges from Europe. By 1985, Haroon Brothers had set up its own workshop at Sheikhupura Road, Lahore, to manufacture small weighing components, earning recognition as a licensed manufacturer of weighing systems by the Weights and Measures department, Government of Punjab and Sindh. In 1989, the company achieved a milestone by fabricating complete weighbridges locally and became the first Pakistani company to export them abroad. “That was a defining moment for us, as it established our credibility both at home and internationally,” shared Asim Rashid.
Haroon Brothers continued to diversify its portfolio with the introduction of industrial automation in 1997 and solar energy solutions in 2000. The company soon registered with the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) and in 2009 installed Pakistan’s first solar grid-tie system at former ICI Polyester near Sheikjupura. “We realized early on that renewable energy was not just a business opportunity but a necessity for Pakistan’s future,” said Asim Rashid.
Its collaboration with FLINTEC for weighing dynamics added another layer of technological strength, while registration with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in 2016 reinforced its standing as a trusted engineering solutions provider. FLINTEC is a world leading manufacturer of precision weight measurement technologies designed for use across a diverse range of industries. With a complete in-house process from design and fabrication to installation and after-sales service, Haroon Brothers ensures reliability and efficiency for every project. “Our after-sales services set us apart. We have teams available all over Pakistan, always ready to respond to our clients’ needs,” emphasized Asim Rashid.
Today, Haroon Brothers is exporting weighing solutions to Middle East, Central Asia and Africa, recognized not only for its weighbridges but also as a leading player in automation and renewable energy solutions, offering consultancy to top industries and construction companies. Reflecting on the company’s evolution, Asim Rashid concluded, “Our commitment has always been to deliver reliable, innovative, and sustainable solutions that support Pakistan’s growth.”
