Engr. Salman Saleem, Senior National Manager, CAC talks to Engineering Post
Haier Pakistan one of the largest companies in Pakistan’s home appliances market has won the contract to install 5000 tons HVAC system at Dominion Mall, Rawalpindi. Dominion Mall is a new mixed-use residential and commercial project by Iqbal Real estate & Builders Private Limited.
In this regard Engineering Post approached Mr. Salman Saleem, Senior National Manager Commercial Air conditioning, to gain exclusive information regarding the project. During the conversation he revealed that Haier Pakistan will be installing the Oil free magnetic bearing centrifugal Chillers, the latest technology available in the country. This is the largest project for such Chillers in Pakistan and will consist of five, 1000-ton Chillers being installed at the facility. “We won the project in competitive bidding because we had the added advantage of providing the latest technology. Others were offering oil based or screw Chillers but only Haier offered the Oil free technology which ultimately resulted in us winning the bid,” explained Mr. Salman Saleem. The added advantage of using oil free technology is that no maintenance is required other than the periodic maintenance every 6-7 years. In this project Haier Pakistan will be using its own manufactured air handling units (AHU) and Fan coil units (FCU).
The Dominion Mall project is designed in such a way that the first five floors will consist of the Mall and further 11 floors will have furnished apartments. “We have also reached a contract with Dominion Mall that all household appliances in the apartments including washing machines, LCDs, Fridge etc. will be provided by Haier. In return Haier will provide a one window operation for maintenance of all appliances. A team will also be placed at Dominion Mall to cater to any requests promptly,” revealed Mr. Salman Saleem.
Haier Pakistan has seen a massive growth of 46% for the year 2021 and predicts 47% growth for the year 2022. While commenting on this Mr. Salman said “The Company’s overall growth has been 46% while the growth target for commercial air conditioning sector was 65 percent for 2021 and we have achieved more than 93% of it with 2 months still remaining, “As the company is expanding, it is increasing its indigenous manufacturing capacity as well. Recently with an expansion of the manufacturing plant, Haier has been able to start local manufacturing of the 8 tons floor standing air conditioner in Pakistan.
While commenting on a few projects undertaken by Haier Pakistan in this year, Mr. Salman said, “We are carrying out a number of projects across the country. Some notable projects include HBK Arena located on Ring Road Peshawar which has been installed with two Oil free magnetic bearing centrifugal Chillers having capacity of 200 tons each. The client visited MG plant to see the operation of the Chillers before finalizing the order. Other notable projects include 600 tons of VRF being installed at Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC), 350 tons VRF being installed at Double Peach Tree Hotel, Islamabad adjacent to Ramada Hotel and 270 tons VRF being installed at Folio 3 Karachi,”.
