To create awareness on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) among the people of Balochistan and facilitate the investors Gwadar Economic Forum has been established.
Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club in last week of October, Mir Naveed Kalmati, Chairman, Gwadar Economic Forum (GEF) said the forum will work as a bridge between the government and investors to resolve the issues and contribute to the economic growth of Balochistan.
“We believe that after the announcement of CPEC, Pakistan’s economic growth is linked with development of Balochistan, therefore the government should focus on it,” he said.
Kalmati said that law and order situation in Gwadar is much better than other parts of the country as Law Enforcement Agencies have taken special measures to ensure security of investors. He urged the government of Balochistan for computerization of entire land record for the transparency of the record as it would help attract more investment.
The chairman GEF said the CEPC is a mega project but could not be completed without the support of people of Balochistan, therefore the government should take all stakeholders particularly local people on board to end misunderstandings regarding this mega project. “The government should give a sense of ownership to local people so they could participate in CPEC,” he added.
