Green T&D Becomes First Pakistani Company to Secure Schneider Electric’s Master Type Tested License

Green T&D Private Limited, a leading switchgear manufacturing company offering a comprehensive range of electrical distribution solutions including switchgear, control gear, and cable management systems, has recently become the first Pakistani company to receive the prestigious Master Type Tested License from Schneider Electric for switchgear manufacturing. During an exclusive conversation with Engineering Post, Engr. Kashif Zafar, Founder and Managing Director of Green T&D Private Limited, shared a landmark achievement that has positioned Pakistan on the global switchgear manufacturing map.

Describing the achievement as a defining moment not only for the company but for the country’s electrical engineering sector, Engr. Kashif Zafar revealed that the journey to secure the Master Type Tested License took nearly one and a half years of rigorous evaluation and compliance. “This is not just a certification; it is a complete validation of our systems, processes, infrastructure, and technical capability,” he said. Globally, Schneider Electric has issued only 22 such licenses, making this recognition exceptionally exclusive. The evaluation process is comprehensive and meticulous, involving not only a detailed assessment of the company’s manufacturing facilities, engineering expertise, quality control systems, and workforce training, but also a broader review of the country’s industrial ecosystem before granting approval.

Engr. Kashif Zafar emphasized that obtaining the license required strict adherence to Schneider Electric’s global manufacturing standards. Developing a product that meets international benchmarks within Pakistan was a demanding task. Every component of the switchgear panel was developed under the close supervision of Schneider Electric’s international product managers and certified trainers. The Green T&D team underwent extensive technical training to ensure complete alignment with global processes, safety standards, and quality protocols. “Schneider’s technical experts scrutinized every detail, from design documentation to assembly procedures and testing methods. Nothing was overlooked,” he noted.

The significance of this milestone extends far beyond Green T&D itself. With this license, Pakistani companies will no longer need to import fully assembled electrical panels. Instead, only certain critical components will be imported, while the entire panel assembly can now be manufactured locally in Pakistan under internationally approved standards. This development is expected to reduce costs, shorten project timelines, strengthen local manufacturing capacity, and support the growth of Pakistan’s electrical engineering industry.

Engr. Kashif Zafar highlighted that the achievement reflects the potential of Pakistani engineers and manufacturers when given the opportunity to operate under global frameworks. “This license demonstrates that Pakistan can produce world-class electrical distribution solutions that meet stringent international standards,” he stated. He further added that the company’s vision is to continue investing in technology, skills development, and quality assurance to expand its footprint both locally and internationally.

The recognition by Schneider Electric marks a new chapter for Green T&D Private Limited and signals a broader shift toward self-reliance in Pakistan’s power distribution infrastructure.
